Oups, I am a little bit late with my blog I am afraid... just a few pics to show how good it was to catch up with my dear lovely kiwi family, the Vandies and to my great surprise with Dan, this lovely american guy I met in the DR, friend of Jonjon, another good sailor.
First surprise though has been the snow... falling as I was crossing the border of Spain to France.. unreal for a month of October really and magical at night!
Meeting point was indeed in France, for once, in my country, a first time for us to catch up in the crazy french frog's place! Well, actually, not my place but Hendrik' sister's. A fantastic stoned house, which they are renovating still, absolutely stunning, in the beautiful region of Ariege, see the map.
No need to say there has been lots of hugs and kisses. Paul, still the happy guy I love, Ann still the exhuberant lady I consider as my second mum, the charming Hendrik, the crazy Jon and his girlfriend Linda, the lovely Dan, and Hendrik's sister and her husband.
We had a wonderful time and lots of fun together. The weather has been gorgeous even if we were all freezing to death on saturday morning as we were going to the market. We could see the snow on top of the mountains, fallen during the night, awesome. Lots of good food then, yummy 'chocolatine, croissants' and other pastries.
Yoke's hubsband (sure the spelling of hername is wrong!), Graham, made us some delicious food and we also enjoyed the 'foie gras' and 'confit' i had brought, made by my grandmum, a delicacy they had the privilege to taste ! !
We just relaxed and enjoyed being together, walked in the country side, had a few glasses of wine, french of course! I even found some mushroom and picked up some chesnuts in the woods.
We also went to the 'Figues festival', the occasion to see some traditional music played in the street, to taste more local food, see some artwork, and eat figues of course!
A great week end, lots of love, of laugh as Jon has been a pretty naughty boy with his aunty and uncle, very bad behaved!I had two crisis of laughter and had to leave the table during the dinner, shame on you Jonboy!
All good in the hood, they were happy to discover France and loved it. I was also glad to visit a different place as I have been travelling around the world but hardly know my own country! No doubt it is a beautiful one and food is just fantastic!
Glad to be back to sunny and warm Spain though!!! This was a fantastic birthday gift for me to be with them as I was celebrating my 36th birthday the next monday... Gosh I cannot believe it! Time flies but I am still 29, the age I was when I began my life in the DR!!! These last 7 years have been the most beautiful years of my life.
